When South Africa’s top organisations innovate well, it will have a definite impact on local economic growth and job creation. The Innovation League study focuses on SA’s top companies, to encourage, recognise and reward innovation excellence displayed by our local innovation leaders, thereby creating a League of local innovation leaders – recognised for playing a role in SA’s economic growth and prosperity.
The SA Innovation League is an annual Innocentrix initiative, in collaboration with Milpark Business School. The approach applies the internationally recognised Innovation Readiness Model (IRM) developed by French Business School INSEAD, in collaboration with UK based firm Logica. It provides an unique way of benchmarking an organisation’s ability to apply leading edge thinking to the topic of collaborative innovation. It considers four key areas: Leadership and ambition; Organisation and collaboration; People and culture and Implementation and measurement. The SA Innovation League provides valuable insights into the local innovation landscape, fostering learning and growth.
Milpark Business School will play a central role in the validation and application of the instrument, while keeping it relevant going forward.
We have also teamed up with Wazoku (UK) a leading collaborative idea management software company and will be mapping back to their Innovation Maturity Scale tool in the execution and interpretation of the SA Innovation League results. Amongst the 2015 SA League winners was Vodacom, Altron, SA Legal Aid, and Business Connexion.
Innocentrix wants to support innovation outcomes and celebrate innovation excellence in South Africa and in the process want to create a platform for people learn from each other, share case studies and inform local best practise. This will enable global insights, positioning South Africa not only internationally, but also against our peers and across industries. In essence, we are starting to collect local data, relevant to us and our local context, but globally comparable with some of the best in the world! Our main aim however remains – a desire to add value, provide local information on innovation and to showcase South Africa’s top innovation leaders!
The SA Innovation League winners will be announced at InnoLive/CSW Africa 2016 when Innocentrix, in collaboration with BCX presents one of the most robust conferences for SA corporates and stakeholders who regard innovation as a strategic priority, with more than 20 local and international speakers from South Africa, Kenya, France, the UK, Nigeria, Tunisia and Singapore.
